My Favourite Photos of 2011 – Part 1
Twenty Eleven. A very good year.
I’m so grateful that I get to do something I’m passionate about as a career and last year was our best year yet. So many amazing moments!
It’s all about the people we meet along the way though and I can’t thank those people enough.
My wife, Evelyne…. There’s no way to sum up how much I love her and how important she is to me. She’s the best!
My boys, Elliott, Isaac & Jonas. They’ve taken over our lives and make us laugh out loud every day. I couldn’t love them more.
Our clients. I can’t believe what amazing clients we continue to book. They’re all so welcoming and we never take for granted the privilege of being allowed into their lives and to witness their most important moments. We have made a lot of great new friends this year.
Add to that the wedding bloggers, magazines, bands, workshop attendees, companies that help us out with shoots, other photographers…. the list goes on.
Thank you. Here’s to an amazing 2012.
So, here are some of my favourite images from 2011. It’s a varied collection. I had too many for one post though so here is Part 1…. Part 2 will follow tomorrow… Enjoy!

Escape To Wales
We had a great Christmas and New Year but still had a couple of weddings over the holiday period so, once 2012 arrived, we escaped for a few days away to South-west Wales.
We stayed at Bluestone which we loved, but still ventured out to visit our pals Owen & Charis and again to explore Tenby and the local beaches. Good times…

Merry Christmas – Santa’s iPod on Spotify
A quick post to say Merry Christmas to you all. Hope everyone has their perfect Christmas.
To help get you into the festive spirit I’ve compiled a slightly alternative Christmas playlist that you can listen to on Spotify.
It includes Christmas tracks by artists including Jimmy Eat World, KT Tunstall, Matt Costa, Smashing Pumpkins, Coldplay, The Ramones, Rufus Wainwright and many more…

The Other Side Of The Camera
I’ve been a fan of Jonathan Canlas‘ photography for a while now.
He shoots 100% film and is well known in the photography world for his Film Is Not Dead workshops.
So when Evelyne & I were asked to model for Jonathan’s recent workshop in London, we jumped at the chance to spend some time on the other side of the camera for a change.
All these photos were taken by Jonathan. I was a fan of his photography. Now I’m a fan of the person too. Top bloke!

Wearing My Art on My Sleeve
I’ve been considering a tattoo for a long time.
I left myself a lot of time to change my mind. That never happened. So, finally, earlier this year I took the plunge and committed to having a piece on my arm. There was only one man for the job…. Matt Hunt at Modern Body Art.
Matt has been a good friend of mine for a long, long time. I totally trusted him to come up with something that he thought would suit me, but I also wanted him to do something that he’d be proud of, so we threw a few ideas around and then I left him to do what he’s best at.
Over a few months, 23 hours in total, Matt worked his magic and the results are here for your viewing pleasure.
The short video below documents the whole process. Take a look….
Massive thanks to Matt for the amazing piece of art now adorning my arm. I love it. Check out Matt’s blog for much more of his work.

VSCO Film – My First Test
These photos of my boys are the first images to ever appear on my blog which have never been opened in Photoshop.
This week saw the launch of a much talked about film emulator for Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw called VSCO Film
I’ve hardly had two minutes to really play with it yet but I quickly ran these images through Lightroom and with just two clicks using VSCO Film these are the results.
I have to say I’m impressed, and I know I’ve hardly scratched the surface with it yet. Hopefully I’ll have time to play a little more soon and I’ll post more examples, including some black & whites, right here.
It could help speed up my post-production workflow but I can’t see me ditching Photoshop altogether just yet…
I edited 41 images, including these, in less than 5 minutes.
