We’re only just into May and I already know Kelly & Ian’s wedding will be one of my highlights of 2012.

They were married at Millers of Netley in Shrewsbury, which is a fantastic venue, the weather was great, their guests made me feel totally welcome, and the whole day was relaxed and totally fun!

This wedding was also unusual for me because I shot the whole day solo. No 2nd shooter. No assistants. Just me and a couple of cameras. And I have to say I loved shooting on my own for a change.

And after such a great day, I received this lovely message from Kelly’s mom…

“Steve, I already know that the end result to your art work at my daughter’s wedding will be beyond spectacular, from the moment you walked in we could all see your eye for detail, imagination and caring direction, you met all of our guest’s requests with respect and good grace. I, in all of my 52 years, coming from a very large family and therefore attending many weddings, have never seen a photographer work so hard for more than 12 hours none stop. The reason you are so successful is due to your amazing personality traits which then transfers into your amazing focus in perceiving specific differences others can’t see, thank you so much Steve I can’t praise you enough, a true and dedicated professional.”

Things like that make this job such a pleasure.

OUR NEXT PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Some of you may remember Emma & Adam from their engagement shoot in Ipswich.

Exactly a week later we were down in London for the main event. And what a brilliant day it was!

They were married on St. Patrick’s Day at the very cool Old Marylebone Town Hall before heading to The Trafalgar Tavern on the bank of the Thames River.

The night ended with a great band, chinese lanterns and plenty of freaky dancing.

Thanks to the lovely Jen O’Neill for 2nd shooting with me on the day.

And big congrats to Emma & Adam. Their wedding rocked!

Becky & Gary’s wedding was our last of 2011 and our first at the gorgeous Hampton Manor.

Unfortunately, on the day, the weather was against us. Rain, rain and more rain! It didn’t dampen any spirits whatsoever though and the wedding was amazing. The party was just as good.

Because of the weather, I asked Becky & Gary if they fancied getting back into their outfits the following day when the weather looked better. They agreed and we got some great portraits of them in the grounds of the venue.

Becky used to be wedding coordinator at The Belfry so I was quite honoured she invited me to be her photographer. They also booked our friends Cartoon Kings and Mango to provide the tunes, and the amazing Ben The Cake Man to make another beautiful cake.

Becky looked stunning and Gary scrubbed up nicely (check out that suit!). I was assisted on the day by my good pal, Gobi Jhitta.

Helen & Andy’s wedding could easily win the Wedding Of the Year Award!

Every single detail had been beautifully planned and they really stamped their own personalities all over the day with personal touches, original details and a brilliant flashmob dance routine immediately after their first dance.

The ceremony was held at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Ashford in the Water before everyone headed to the magnificent Hassop Hall, where, earlier in the day, we bumped into Jarvis Cocker!

A truly brilliant wedding which ended with a rockin’ party. Loved it!

Ever since I first met Becky & Paul, Becky had told me that it would snow on their wedding day.

It’s a pity she didn’t put some money on it!

They’re a great couple who actually met at Ramshackle, the indie night I used to promote back in the day.

The amazing dress was designed by my good pal, and neighbour at The Custard factory, Jo at The Couture Company.

The venue was Spring Grove House inside West Midlands Safari Park.

Thanks to Miss Emma Case for second shooting this one with me. We ended the day stranded at the local hotel due to the snow but it was all worth it!

What a good looking bunch!

I’ve done a few photoshoots now in collaboration with my friend Jo who runs The Couture Company here at The Custard Factory.

Jo lets us use her amazing wedding dresses for our workshops.

But when she mentioned she wanted me to photograph her new tattooed wedding dress I knew it’d be something truly unique.

We did a few dresses during this shoot but the tattoo dress got lots of attention, including a feature on the uber-cool Rock n Roll Bride blog.

My good pal Steph modelled for the shoot. I shot her wedding in New York.

I love shoots like this!

Just me, a great couple and a whole day to make photos.

We started at The Custard Factory, then hit the streets of Digbeth, Kenilworth Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon and finally back to Birmingham after dark.

I’m kinda proud of this one…

I’ve known Stephanie for a while as she used to work at Moxhull Hall where we’ve covered more weddings than any other venue.

So it was quite a compliment when she chose us to cover such an amazing wedding. Our first big Greek wedding too.

The main ceremony was at the impressive Orthodox Church of St. Luke in Erdington before everyone headed to the National Motorcycle Museum.

Greek weddings are so fun to shoot. I love the colours, traditions and the famous money dance. Steph & Jonny made us feel totally welcome and their guests made sure we were well fed!
