Joy & Richard – E-Shoot in the Snow

JR-133

Joy & Richard booked us to shoot their wedding about 7 weeks ago. Their wedding is this weekend! We love last minute bookings :)

I’m so glad they got in touch cos they’re one of the nicest couples we’ve met and I know their wedding is going to be F.U.N. You can see all that in a few weeks though :)

For their engagement shoot we got to do our first ever client shoot in the snow and I love the results. We headed over to Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham and here are just a few of the photos we made…

Hannah & Ali – At Home With…

HA-140

If you follow this blog regularly you’ll know that pretty much all our engagement sessions are shot outdoors. Hannah & Ali wanted to do things differently and I knew we’d end up with some unique shots of them as a result.

Hannah had the idea of doing the shoot as a “At home with Hannah & Ali” session. Their home is amazing too. They’ve collected so many cool, vintagey items to give the place character and personality. It totally suits them.

We shot their wedding the day before heading to Montreal for Christmas so watch out for that on the blog in a couple of weeks. The wedding was fantastic!

For the photographers out there, these images were all processed using the amazing Totally Rad Actions. Check ‘em out.

Engagement Shoot In The Cotswolds

Vicki & Oli get married at the end of this month at one of our favourite wedding venues - Ettington Park Hotel in Stratford. They actually booked us after being guests at two of our previous weddings and it’s going to be great to see our old clients as guests at their wedding.

For their engagement shoot we decided to head down to the idyllic setting of The Cotswolds and, as you can see, we were blessed with some amazing light giving me some of my favourite engagement images ever!

Vicki & Oli are using one of the photos from this shoot for a signature frame where their wedding guests leave messages for them on the mount rather than a traditional guest book, similar to this one from Kate & Dan’s wedding:

Can’t wait to see you guys at the wedding. I have a feeling it’s going to be a fun day…

Philippa & Bob – E-Shoot in Birmingham

The summer months not only see us being super-busy with weddings, it also sees us booking in plenty of engagement shoots (pre-wedding shoots). I love doing these shoots almost as much as I love shooting weddings. Unlike the wedding day we don’t have to worry about time schedules, guests or getting the dress dirty and we can do the shoot pretty much anywhere we like. A lot of these shoots happen in the backstreets near to our studio in Digbeth but we’re happy to jump in a car and travel somewhere totally different too.

Philippa & Bob get married at Homme House in Much Marcle, Herefordshire in a couple of weeks. Homme House is a fantastic venue where our friends Charlotte & Steve got married last year. For their E-shoot we started off close to the studio before heading to the greener pastures of Cannon Hill Park

Somebody asked me today how come all my brides are gorgeous! :) No sign of that trend changing any time soon…. You can see Philippa & Bob’s wedding photos here in a few weeks…

Purdeep & Ben – Brighton Beach

Next weekend I’ll be heading down south to photograph the biggest wedding I’ve covered so far with over 500 guests! And I can’t wait! It sounds like it’s going to be an amazing wedding and the couple, Purdeep and Ben, are so cool and laid back we’re sure to have fun and come away with a ton of great photos for them.

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids down to Brighton for the day and, later in the day, met up with Purdeep and Ben for their engagement shoot. It’s great to use new locations and Brighton Beach is a GREAT location. Evelyne used to work at the Walkabout in Brighton for a while before we got together and she loves going back to one of her favourite English towns. The sun shone, everyone had a great day and here are just a few images from the shoot..

At the end of the shoot we left Purdeep and Ben at this lovely little Italian place where they had dinner while we headed over to see our friend Emma.

Those of you that follow me on Twitter will know of my unhealthy hatred of rogue apostrophes. So I just had to share this crime against the English language with you which we found during our shoot…

And here’s Elliott enjoying the beach :)

Lesley & Jon – Engaged!

Whoah! Am I the blog king this week or what?! Things have been busy recently with weddings, engagement shoots, concerts etc so I need to be on the ball and keep up and it’s good to get my fave images up on the blog for you good people :) Keep those comments coming too. I really appreciate them and will add you all to my Christmas card list. Maybe.

Lesley & Jonathan are getting married at the beautiful Studley Castle in July. For their engagement shoot they suggested including their 3 cats for a few shots. On the day, however, only one was feeling photogenic.

Let’s hope that sunshine comes out again for the main event! :)

Dani & Chris – Engaged!

It’s always an honour and a privilege when a couple chooses us to photograph their wedding but it’s even more flattering when we’re booked to shoot the wedding of a fellow wedding photographer! Chris is a fantastic photographer shooting everything from weddings to rock bands (sound familiar?!) and next month he will be marrying his beautiful girlfriend Dani. I know it’s going to be a wedding to remember.

On Easter Sunday we met up for their engagement shoot and spent a couple of hours getting them some great images. Couples like this make my job easy!

These guys are such a cool couple. Can’t you just tell how well suited they are!? I can’t wait to shoot their wedding!!

Lorraine & James – Engagement Shoot

I have a thing about asking people to smile for photos. I don’t do it. The best way to get natural smiles is to photograph people who are already happy, fun people enjoying themselves while I photograph them. I’m lucky cos most people I get to photograph are seem relaxed in front of my camera; maybe not immediately, but shortly into the shoot they realise that actually having their photo taken is pretty easy and we end up having a great time getting images at whichever location we find ourselves in.

Lorraine & James get married next month and we spent an hour on Easter Sunday walking the streets of Birmingham looking for cool places to shoot. Here’s just a taste of what we came back with… “Say Cheese!”

Sometimes you never know what might happen when you set up a shot…

Can’t wait for the wedding guys. Don’t forget to smile! ;)

Faye & Warrick – Engagement Shoot in Stratford

Faye & Warrick are all set to marry this weekend (May 2nd) and I can’t wait to shoot their big day for them. Such an easy-going, fun couple, I know it’s going to be a fantastic day.

A couple of weeks ago I met them in Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-Upon-Avon for their engagement shoot and we had a great time roaming the streets and seeing what we found. Who could have known we’d end up in a private storage room full of Shakespearean props!!

Here are some of my fave shots from the shoot..

Time for a little culture…

And this is where things got a little overly dramatic :)

Roll on Saturday!!

Amy & Jonathon – Engaged!

Amy & Jonathon came to us via our good friend Emily Quinton who was already booked on the date they wanted (thanks Em) and it turns out Jonathon works at Wragge & Co in Birmingham which is where I briefly worked when I first moved to Birmingham from Chester. However, whereas I did a little photocopying and building spreadsheets, Jonathon already made partner!

Their wedding is coming up this month at Berrow Court and we got together at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens for their engagement shoot a couple of weeks ago. The gardens are beautiful and make a photographers job pretty easy but my favourite shot of the day was the one above where we found that great fence in the alley next to their house.

Here are just a few from the Botanical Gardens..
