Pearl Jam & friends – Hyde Park, London

At the end of June I was lucky enough to finally photograph my favourite band. Twice!
You may have already seen the photos from Belfast Odyssey Arena and, since then, I’ve had a few messages from people waiting to see the Hyde Park photos. So here they are
It’s always a bonus when you get great support acts on the bill, and I was delighted to see another of my fave bands added to the bill… The Gaslight Anthem

Always fun and entertaining… The Hives

The main support was Ben Harper, who was joined on stage by Eddie Vedder for a cover of Queen’s Under Pressure.

And then it was time for the main event… And this setlist..

It was good to meet up with a few friends at the gig too. All in all, not a bad way to spend a Friday

And here’s a photo of me doing my thing, taken by Kerrang! photographer, Chris Casey.

Many thanks to Jen at Rock Sound and Ali at LD Communications.
Download Festival – Donington 2010

A couple of weekends ago I was back at the Download Festival at Castle Donington to shoot on behalf of Terrorizer Magazine.
Download is one of my favourite festivals and this year saw some legendary names on the bill.
I had to miss the Saturday to shoot a wedding in London but here are some of my favourite shots from Friday & Sunday…
Unearth

36 Crazyfists

Oh look! It’s a Foo Fighter. Taylor Hawkins, to be precise.

Killswitch Engage

Time for a quick beer with Job For A Cowboy

As I Lay Dying

John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin… and now Them Crooked Vultures

Another Foo Fighter… Mr Dave Grohl

For Those About To Rock….

AC/DC

On to Sunday..
I think you know this man!

A great new band – The Damned Things… You may recognise a few faces here too.

My favourite band of the weekend… The amazing Dillinger Escape Plan.

No introduction needed…

The weekend finished with two legendary bands… Stone Temple Pilots and AEROSMITH!

Even the rain didn’t dampen the atmosphere.

Jason John Whitehead – Portrait Shoot

A few weeks ago I had an email from Canadian comedian, Jason John Whitehead, who was after some new and different promo images.
If you haven’t heard of him yet, check out his YouTube video. He’s funny! And also a super-nice guy.
And he has a Pearl Jam tattoo. Respect!

Alexa & Andy – An Engagement Session in Selly Oak

This past Easter weekend saw us busier than ever with viewings, appointments, band shoots, live gigs and 2 weddings!
One of those weddings happened on Saturday with Alexa & Andy. It was a fantastic wedding which I’m looking forward to blogging in a couple of weeks. Just wait til you see Alexa’s dress!
In the mean time, here are a few photos from Alexa & Andy’s engagement session. We met in Selly Oak, close to Birmingham University, and they asked if they could bring their cute puppy along for the first half of the shoot.

Outside The Soak pub where Alexa & Andy first met

Alexa & Andy are currently living it up on honeymoon in South Africa. I’m looking forward to seeing them when they get home and going through their wedding images with them. On the blog soon….
Delphic and Biffy – Published!

The new issue of Practical Photography is out and I’m pleased to have a double page spread in there featuring a shot I took of Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro.
I also give some tips on shooting live gigs.
Closer to home, My photos of rising stars Delphic are featured in the new Brum Notes mag, with one picture making the cover. Which is nice
Check out Delphic’s album which was released this week. They’re being called the new New Order.

Is That Johnny Rotten?!

First single I ever bought – The Sex Pistols‘ “Silly Thing”. My mom went into town to get it for me!
I’ve photographed The Sex Pistols before but this week I got up close to the legend that is John Lydon aka Johnny Rotten when his other band, Public Image Ltd, played Birmingham Academy.
Here are a few pics from Tuesday night…

You can read a great review of the gig HERE
Kate & Sam – Stratford-Upon-Avon Wedding Photography

Ahhh… a wedding in the land of Shakespeare. This was always going to be a good one and Kate & Sam didn’t let us down.
Their engagement shoot was so much fun I couldn’t wait to spend their wedding day with them. I brought along Chris Barber as 2nd shooter and we were both made to feel completely welcome by everyone.
The day began at the couple’s home which is a stone’s throw from Holy Trinity Church where the ceremony was to be held. The same church where William Shakespeare’s grave can be found no less!

The gardens by the river made a great spot for the big group shot…

And then we stole the couple away for a few portraits…

The reception was held in the grandiose setting of Stratford Town Hall.

Kate looked amazing eh?

RINGS!

Time for some great speeches..

Kate’s mom is a long-standing cast member of “the world’s longest running radio soap”, The Archers.

And Kate wins the award for best rhyming bride’s speech of all time. Genius!

Some late night photos in the Bard‘s home town…

Another great couple who made their wedding unique, fun and a pleasure to be a part of. Thanks for having us guys

Fleetwood Mac – Live In Birmingham
It’s always an honour to be accredited to shoot bands that deserve the title “legendary”.
Fleetwood Mac have been around in one form or another for 42 years and their album, Rumours, is the tenth best selling album of all time! Last week they played Birmingham and, despite having to photograph them from half way back in the arena, it was a pleasure to witness them on a stage.
Here are a few pictures from my restricted spot 200 meters from the stage..
Rebekah – Superstar DJ
Rebekah is not only gorgeous, she’s also an amazing DJ who travels the world spinning tunes.
She’s also the loveliest person you could meet and, I’m glad to say, a good friend.
Recently she asked me to do a photo shoot, as she was in need of some new, and different, images for promotional purposes. I was more than happy to help. Here are my faves from our session together…
Check out Rebekah’s MySpace page HERE
Kasabian in Wolverhampton
A few weeks ago I got to shoot Kasabian in Wolverhampton at the Civic Hall.
Jeff Ascough was meant to be shooting it (his first live gig I believe) but emailed me to say he’d booked a foreign wedding and couldn’t make it. Jeff’s loss – my gain
