She had asked me to take some portraits for her over the summer, but things were so hectic I only managed to find time for the shoot in October. Hopefully, it was worth the wait….

Steph & Jonny get married in Birmingham this weekend.

It’s a Greek wedding and they’re about to break our record for the most guests… 588!

For their engagement shoot we met near their home in Lichfield and headed out into town, trying to avoid the rain..

Becky & Anthony – Birmingham Engagement Session

Becy & Anthony had the rather cool idea of shooting their engagement session at the coolest cinema in Birmingham – The Electric

Some tricky lighting but I was up for a challenge and I’m really happy with the results.

To mix it up we also did some more around the Birmingham streets before taking their dog to the park where he was more interested in terrorizing squirrels than having his photo taken…

Their wedding is this weekend… 200 yards from our studio. It’s gonna be ace.

V Festival 2011 – Weston Park

The problem with being a wedding photographer is that weddings very often clash with festivals.

Tis year I’ve had to miss most of the best festivals (Download, Hevy, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Big Chill) due to being booked for weddings the same weekend. I feel like I’ve missed out. A lot! But I’m happy to be so busy with weddings, so…

I’ve shot the V Festival at Weston Park in Staffordshire every year since 2006. I’ve always covered both days but 2011 was the first year a wedding clashed with the Saturday. Luckily, I was still able to go down on the Sunday, and Evelyne & Isaac came along for the day too. It was Isaac’s first ever live gig.

We had a great day at the festival and I think Isaac had a little crush on KT. Hopefully next summer I’ll get to cover a few more festivals. Fingers crossed!

Amy Winehouse RIP

This weekend the world lost a true talent.

I can’t say I was a massive fan of her music. I did like it though and always knew Amy Winehouse was a gifted and unique singer.

Her music isn’t going anywhere though. Her talent lives on in her songs.

These photos were taken three years ago. I’m glad I got to photograph her and hear her voice live.

Rest in peace now, Amy.

Bright Eyes @ HMV Institute, Birmingham

Bright Eyes recently played Birmingham’s HMV Institute, around the corner from our studio.

Despite a packed out venue, I was the only photographer shooting the gig.

Gomez @ Birmingham HMV Institute

I’m a big fan of Gomez.

I think they’re one of the most underrated bands in the country. Every time I’ve seen them, from festivals to small clubs to opening for the mighty Pearl Jam, they’ve alway been superb.

Last night they played at the HMV Institute, just 5 minutes walk from our studio in Birmingham, and I was lucky enough to be the only photographer shooting the gig.

I took Evelyne along as she’s also a converted Gomez fan. There will be a review on the Birmingham Live site but I thought they were great. Here are a few photos from the gig…

Kasabian – Live In Wolverhampton

Kasabian tend to play arenas and headline festivals these days but this week they played a few more intimate venues, one of which was the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton.

I was lucky enough to be one of only 3 photographers accredited to photograph the gig. And a great gig it was too. Reminded me of what a great band they can be when they’re on form.

A Family Trip To Woolacombe

“No blog posts in ten days, Steve?”

Last week was our first family holiday in… well… a LONG time! In fact, we’ve never had a holiday with the five of us (Jonas is 10 months old).

We managed to grab a few days with the kiddos down in a beautifully sunny Woolacombe in Devon and much fun was had by all.
