Hannah & Ben
Today I held a 1-to-1 workshop at our studio for the very lovely Kirsty Whitaker.
In the afternoon we were joined by Hannah & Ben, who kindly volunteered to stand (and sit) in front of our cameras for a while. Here are just a few of the images that we made…
Thanks to Kirsty for coming and spending the day with me, and to Hannah & Ben for being perfect models. Fun was had

Lee & Hannah – Portrait Shoot in Digbeth
I recently held one of my 1-to-1 workshops with Helen Batt, a lovely photographer from Kent who drove all the way up to Birmingham for the day to listen to me ramble about all things photography.
After going through lots of info about how I shoot weddings etc we had a quick lunch and then headed out onto the picturesque (!) streets of Digbeth with my friends Lee & Hannah who kindly stood in as our “regular couple” for a shoot.
Helen took lots of photos too but here are a few of my own faves from the shoot.

Rock The Frock/Trash The Dress Session – Rachel & Phil
I love shooting Rock The Frock sessions. We don’t call them Trash The Dress shoots unless they actually want to trash their wedding dress. Which they rarely do.
Rachel & Phil were married last August in Herefordshire but were greeted by some typically wet British weather and didn’t manage to get any of the kind of photos they were hoping for. I never shot their actual wedding but I was happy to help make some pictures for them when we met up on a chilly but brighter day in January.
The shoot began on the streets around our studio in Birmingham before moving to Sutton Park to get something a little greener. I love the variety we managed to get from one afternoon. And Rachel & Phil made my job easy.
Big thanks to Anna Clarke for helping me out on the day too.

Emma & Neil – A Wedding at The Old School House Restaurant, Weeford
We still have some amazing weddings from the summer waiting to hit the blog and here’s one of my faves.. Emma & Neil.
Apart from being the tallest couple we’ve photographed, they’re also one of the nicest. I knew their wedding was gonna be fantastic and they didn’t let me down at all.
Their ceremony was held at St Paul’s Church right in Birmingham city centre and later they headed out to The Old School House Restaurant in Weeford, a great venue with the most amazing food. I’m taking Evelyne there for dinner some time soon.
Ok, how cute are these guys?! They handed out flowers to all the ladies as they walked down the aisle…
Emma & Neil hired a VW camper and their own little Herbie VW Beetle. Too cool!
Bride on a slide!
Their bad was The White Keys and they were easily one of the best wedding bands we’ve seen. We’ve added them to our recommended suppliers.
Bride on the drums!! (And yes, Emma really is a drummer)
Coolest bridesmaids photo ever. Fact.
I’m sure you can tell this was a fun wedding. Emma & Neil make a great couple and we’re really thankful they chose us to photograph their wedding day. Congrats guys
Did i mention they were tall?!

Suzanne & Jon – Engagement Shoot in Birmingham
I’m slowly but surely catching up with blogging, but still have plenty waiting in the wings. And some stuff I’m very excited to post too!
This week is Evelyne’s 30th birthday so I’m treating myself to 2 days off! In a row!! I know, crazy right? And I have a few treats lined up for Evelyne too. She deserves it more than anyone I know at the moment. I’m super-busy with weddings, editing, band shoots, etc and that means she has to look after 3 kids whilst still trying to find time to design albums, email clients, do the accounts and look after our home. Occasionally she gets a bit of time to herself, but nowhere near enough. She’s a star.
Anyway….
Today’s post features Suzanne & Jon, who have booked us to shoot their wedding up in Yorkshire just before New Year. They live overseas so the first time we met was when they were in the UK and made it down to Birmingham for their engagement session. It was great to get to know them as we wandered the streets of the Jewellery Quarter and made some photos. Along the way we dodged rain showers, chatted to a crazy woman who gave us a (not-so) brief history of the Quakers in Birmingham, and we laughed… a lot!

Liz & Dave – Engaged!

Yet another engagement session for you! It’s that time of year
I promise I have some great weddings and live music photos coming up very soon..
I’ve known Dave a few years now. He’s a fellow music photographer which makes it all the cooler that he & Liz have booked me to shoot their wedding in July
For their engagement shoot they made the long journey down to Birmingham and we explored the area near to our studio looking for something a little different. As the sun dropped we found some beautiful light too.
3 weeks til their wedding…. Can’t wait!

Evelyne and Me :) Photos by Emma Case

Today is my birthday
So, I thought it fitting that I post some photos featuring myself & Evelyne taken recently by the amazingly talented and lovely Emma Case.
Working as photographers, we get to meet, and often befriend, some of the best photographers in the industry, and Emma is one of them. She’s making a real name for herself as a wedding and portrait photographer in Birmingham (and beyond) and was kind enough to do a shoot for us in London a few weeks ago.
We love the results and Emma was good enough to let me post the results here. Check out Emma’s website for more cool pics…

Elesha & Daniel – Engagement Session

Elesha & Daniel’s wedding is one of the ones I’ve been looking forward to for ages.
Elesha’s been my Facebook friend and Twitter follower for a while now and seems to have also befriended some of my other brides who were married at her venue, Moxhul Hall. She’s also got the lovely Natalie Bartram doing her hair for the wedding. Natalie did my 2nd shooter, Anna’s hair at her wedding
For their engagement shoot we started at the West Bromwich Albion ground. Elesha & Dan are both big fans. We then headed over to nearby Sandwell Valley as the sun began to set…

Wedding photos here soon…
