Kelly & Ian – A Wedding at Millers of Netley, Shrewsbury
We’re only just into May and I already know Kelly & Ian’s wedding will be one of my highlights of 2012.
They were married at Millers of Netley in Shrewsbury, which is a fantastic venue, the weather was great, their guests made me feel totally welcome, and the whole day was relaxed and totally fun!
This wedding was also unusual for me because I shot the whole day solo. No 2nd shooter. No assistants. Just me and a couple of cameras. And I have to say I loved shooting on my own for a change.
And after such a great day, I received this lovely message from Kelly’s mom…
“Steve, I already know that the end result to your art work at my daughter’s wedding will be beyond spectacular, from the moment you walked in we could all see your eye for detail, imagination and caring direction, you met all of our guest’s requests with respect and good grace. I, in all of my 52 years, coming from a very large family and therefore attending many weddings, have never seen a photographer work so hard for more than 12 hours none stop. The reason you are so successful is due to your amazing personality traits which then transfers into your amazing focus in perceiving specific differences others can’t see, thank you so much Steve I can’t praise you enough, a true and dedicated professional.”
Things like that make this job such a pleasure.
Thanks to Kelly & Murph for asking me to cover such a brilliant day.
We took our Fun Booth to this wedding too. Those photos deserve a post of their own… here soon…

Becky & Paul – A Snowy Wedding at Spring Grove House, Bewdley
Ever since I first met Becky & Paul, Becky had told me that it would snow on their wedding day.
It’s a pity she didn’t put some money on it!
They’re a great couple who actually met at Ramshackle, the indie night I used to promote back in the day.
The amazing dress was designed by my good pal, and neighbour at The Custard factory, Jo at The Couture Company.
The venue was Spring Grove House inside West Midlands Safari Park.
Thanks to Miss Emma Case for second shooting this one with me. We ended the day stranded at the local hotel due to the snow but it was all worth it!

My Favourite Photos of 2011 – Part 1
Twenty Eleven. A very good year.
I’m so grateful that I get to do something I’m passionate about as a career and last year was our best year yet. So many amazing moments!
It’s all about the people we meet along the way though and I can’t thank those people enough.
My wife, Evelyne…. There’s no way to sum up how much I love her and how important she is to me. She’s the best!
My boys, Elliott, Isaac & Jonas. They’ve taken over our lives and make us laugh out loud every day. I couldn’t love them more.
Our clients. I can’t believe what amazing clients we continue to book. They’re all so welcoming and we never take for granted the privilege of being allowed into their lives and to witness their most important moments. We have made a lot of great new friends this year.
Add to that the wedding bloggers, magazines, bands, workshop attendees, companies that help us out with shoots, other photographers…. the list goes on.
Thank you. Here’s to an amazing 2012.
So, here are some of my favourite images from 2011. It’s a varied collection. I had too many for one post though so here is Part 1…. Part 2 will follow tomorrow… Enjoy!

Emma & Matt – A Wedding at Hogarths, Solihull
It’s rare that I shoot a wedding solo. I almost always have a great 2nd shooter along for the ride.
It’s also rare for a couple to book us less than 2 weeks before their wedding!
With Emma & Matt, both those situations arose and their wedding still went brilliantly. These guys do not take these things too seriously! As it should be…

Sophie & Chris – A Family Engagement Shoot

They brought along their gorgeous little girl for the first half of the shoot at Kenilworth Castle. We then headed into Birmingham for something a bit different…

Fran & Dave – A Wedding at Birtsmorton Court
Not all weddings are created equal.
Some weddings are packed so full of love, fun and great people, I feel totally lucky to be there to witness them. Occasionally, you can add great weather. And sometimes the venue is beautiful too. And maybe we’ll we get a fantastic meal.
The best weddings happen when our clients feel more like new friends.
If we’re really lucky all these things come together… and so it was with Fran & Dave’s wedding at Birtsmorton Court…
*** STOP THE PRESS **** 2 minutes after posting this wedding, I found out that Fran & Dave are expecting TWINS! Massive congrats to them both
One of the girls pulled back the curtain, and there, fast asleep, was this bat!
In the evening, the band played and then Dave and the boys surprised Fran with an impromptu set…
Amazing wedding. Fantastic couple. Congrats to Fran & Dave. And thanks for trusting us to capture the day.
Thanks also to Gemma for 2nd shooting with me.
